On Tuesday 9th November 2010, 80 guests enjoyed a champagne reception followed by a three course dinner to celebrate the Devon launch of Afghan Faces. The launch dinner was held at the prestigious five star Bovey Castle Hotel and prepared by Roger Ohlsson, former chef of London’s two Michelin Star restaurant Pied a Terre.

Author of Afghan Faces John Casson talked about his impressions of the country following his visit to Afghanistan in August this year, a trip that was not without its challenges and incidents!

Sandy Gall, the highly accredited former ITN reporter and presenter of News at Ten, who has been to Afghanistan many many times, talked about the current problems in this troubled country and his thoughts on its future.

Seven Royal Marines, injured in Afghanistan, also attended the launch dinner.

Guests were able to purchase copies of Afghan Faces autographed by the author, photographer and Sandy Gall.

Over £6,000 was raised during the dinner, auction and raffle. This was donated to charities supporting UK armed forces who are injured in Afghanistan and Sandy Gall’s Afghanistan Appeal.
